  • A weakly delivered opinion – or an opinion that appears to have been quickly formulated based on what others have said – is likely to leave a negative impression. Review the meeting agenda in advance and be sure you have prepared an opinion on each point in case you are asked.


  • When making proposals or suggestions, be sensitive not only to the views of others, but also to what has been said in the meeting. Keep your words friendly, considerate and inclusive of others.


  • If you feel that your proposal or suggestion directly contradicts or disagrees with something someone has said, start with I’m afraid I don’t agree with James on this point ... or I’m sorry, but ...
